Blockchain Essentials is an introductory session designed to provide a clear and practical understanding of blockchain technology. The session begins with a simple example of supply chain case study to illustrate the need for transparency, traceability, and trust, and how blockchain addresses these challenges. It then explores the core properties of blockchain, followed by a comparison between Web 2.0 and Web 3.0 to highlight the shift toward decentralization. Participants will be introduced to the fundamentals of Bitcoin and gain insights into how Ethereum extends these concepts with additional features and capabilities. The session will also cover real-world blockchain applications, along with emerging career and research opportunities in this domain. If time permits and based on audience interest, a simple demonstration will be conducted to showcase the working of blockchain in practice.
